METAVERSES: IMPLICATIONS FOR THE STATE AND PERSPECTIVES FOR REGULATION

“From 'virtual reality' to the real world: “what challenges and regulatory issues do the 'Metaverses' bring to the State?”, based on this provocation, this theoretical essay seeks to articulate authors who base the Metaverses phenomenon with authors who elucidate aspects of technological and informational disputes. Discussion: Six provocations are elaborated among sections in the form of questions that help to mobilize reflections around critical authors from the perspective of studies on technological and informational disputes. A Metaverses Regulatory Framework framework is proposed. Final Considerations: It points to the technologies of Metaverses and their forms of use built from the disputes between different interests and the strategies of the most powerful actors. In addition, it points to challenges that the public sector will need to observe. Such challenges appear to be markedly regulatory, potentially involving: privacy protection, data security, protection against monopolies, tax aspects, provision and control of infrastructure and critical services, manipulation of public opinion and others.
